Today’s episode I interview Dr. Clarence Lee Jr. Dr. Lee is a nationally celebrated author, international speaker, and CEO of CMLEEJR Companies. LLC, a personal development brand that conducts seminars on high performance and mental conditioning for teams, organizations and students. He is also a center medical director for U.S. Healthworks Medical Group, Inc in Sacramento, CA.

He holds a degree in Biology from UIW, and degrees in medicine (MD) and business (MBA) from Drexel University. A decorated war veteran, Dr. Lee served in the USAF for 10 years with several assignments, his last being a flight surgeon flying the T-38 and U-2 airframes at Beale AFB, CA.

Dr. Lee is the author of the inspirational memoir “Well, My Mom Says…” as well as soon to be released “PERSIST” in 2017. He is a columnist for several publications and his work has been featured in Live Happy Magazine, Black Fitness Today, and Essence Magazine to name a few. He regularly appears as a on-air TV health expert and has been featured in segments on ABC, NBC, and FOX television stations.

Recently, Dr. Lee was named Top 40 under 40 by the Sacramento Business Journal (2014) and Drexel University (2016). He was honored as one of the “Top Healthcare Entrepreneurs To Know” by Becker’s Hospital Review, and is one of the latest recipients of the Black Enterprise Modern Man award in 2016.

Dr. Lee is a devoted husband and father. He lives in CA and loves spending time with his wife and 3 children.

How Do You Define Purpose & What Does Success Mean To You?

Purpose is at the intersection of three these three questions:
1. Where do I have a passion, or what lights me up.
2. Where do I have some pain?
3. Where do you have potential?

Success is living your vision & it starts with believing in that vision.

What’s Been The Biggest Obstacle That You’ve Had To Overcome As An Entrepreneur?

The #1 obstacle I had to overcome was mindset. Where I am from, I did not have people to help me see beyond my situation. I was able to shift my mindset by reading and exposing myself to books, in particular black history books.

What advice would you give to that person who knows they are off purpose & wants to get in alignment with their purpose and passion?1. Start with identifying what is the excuse or lie that has made you quit pursuing your purpose. Stop living in your fear box.
2. Start to incorporate baby steps every single day. If you line up 365 one things, you get a lot accomplished.

My morning ritual with reading the Bible first thing in the morning. Additionally, I get the one thing I really want to get done for the day done before I start my day. Lastly, I set my alarm on my phone for 10:30 am and 4:30 pm to remind me of affirmations of who I am trying to be.

Barak Obama. I am so impressed with what he has been able to do in his life.
